Final Fantasy

BACKGROUND

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles takes place on a world covered with a poison called Miasma. Villages are kept safe from the deadly gas by powerful magic stones. The stones are fueled by a substance called Mir, but the Mir only fuels the stone temporarily. Each year, villages send out caravans to collect droplets of Mir from trees. These trees can only be found at the end of monster inhabited dungeons, and various other vast, colorful regions such as deserts and even a giant monster's house! You take control of a caravan. You battle through hordes of monsters with your own custom character. You save your village from death!

Gameplay (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
FF:CC breaks the tradition of time-based gameplay. You have free movement, and you use the L and R buttons to change the active command. Your health is expressed in hearts, like in Zelda games. Magic requires special crystals called magicite found in the areas, which you equip in your command slots. Combine the same magic for more powerful versions (Fire+Fire=Fira), or mix spells for other spells (Fire+Blizzard=Gravity). All the while, you are surrounded by a toxic gas. If you walk into it, your hearts begin to drain. You avoid the gas with the Crystal Chalice. The chalice has enough power to keep the gas a bay... kinda. The catch is that someone must be carrying the chalice, and the carrier can't use commands. (In single mode this is remedied by adding Mog the Moogle, who will hold the chalice as needed but gets tired.) Once you navigate the dungeon, you'll have to fight the boss. At the end of a stage, you may get a letter from your family back home, and you'll get to pick one or more powerup items, such as more hearts or a permanent spell. At that time you lose any magicite you found, and all your hearts replenish. Credit to neo14789 for the Gameplay information
