All across the world in certain locations are "friendly monsters" who will ask you to feed them, rather than fight with you. Each monster will ask for a different kind of jewel. Select this jewel from the items menu and cast it on the monster. This will give you a nice amount of AP when the battle ends but also has a deeper agenda. If you feed all nine monsters you will remove the physical attack block against Ozma, if you wish to fight him.

Green Nymph	Forest near the Lifa Tree
Purple Jabberwock	Forest east of Oeilvert
Green Feather Circle	Mountain side near chocobo tracks at Lost Continent
Garuda	Small forest that conceals the hole you can climb out of (from the Moogle's room) in Gizmaluke's Grotto
Yan	Vile Island (south-west of Lifa Tree) in the forest
