Your GF's learn abilties through gaining AP. When you get the correct amount of AP, the GF will learn the ability, in a similar way to how abilites are mastered in other Final Fantasy Games. The GF must be equpped to a character who participates in the relevant battle to gain AP. The table below provides additional information on each ability. Starting with the name of the ability, the following fields explain what type of ability it is, what effect learning it has, how much AP is required to learn it, and what item can be used to force a GF who wouldn't normally do so to learn it. The table is in alphabetical order. Note - This table is very much a work in progress, being written mostly from memory and a few sparse notes. Some feilds remain blank, as I am not including the information if I'm not completely certain. Brothers

Location : You can obtain the brothers from the Tomb Of The Uknown King at the end of the peninsula east of Deling City. First of all take every right turn inside the tomb, until eventually you reach a corridor where you must go straight ahead. At the end of this corridor is Sacred, whom you must defeat. After the battle leave here and take every right turn again, until you come to another corridor. At the end of this, have Squall loosen the chain, to allow the water to flow in a different way. Exit, and take every right turn again. At the end of this corridor, click around until something happens. Exit and take all the right turns again. This will bring you outside the tomb. Save your game, re-enter the tomb, and go straight ahead. You should now be able to access the centre of the Labyrynth, where you must battle Sacred and Minotaur. Upon defeating them, you gain them as GF's. If you have trouble in this battle, try casting 'float' to cancel their regen.

Attack : The Brothers appear and begin to play a game of rock/paper/scissors. The big brother picks up the ground the enemy is standing on and hurls it into the air, it eventually comes crashing down damaging the enemy.

Location : Cactuar Island, Jumbo Cactuar (Discs 3 & 4).

Attack : 1000 Needles - Cactuar unleashes 1000 needles upon all enemies. The damage inflicted will rise as Cactuar grows in levels.

Carbuncle

Location : You can draw Carbuncle from the Iguiona in Deling City, at the end of disc one. This is forced battle, so you shouldn't miss it. The creatures are very easy to kill, so be sure to draw the GF first.

Attack : Ruby Light - Carbuncle appears from a hole in the ground and casts 'Reflect' on all party members.

Location : When Squall, Zell and Selphie are given their first SeeD assignment, talk to Headmaster Cid again to recieve the Magical Lamp. Use this item in the inventory to immediatly begin a battle with Diablos. Defeat him to gain his card, and him as a GF.

Attack : During Diablos's attak Dark Messanger, the GF creates a huge, black gravitation ball which he then slams into your opponents.

Ifrit

Location : Ifrit is gained upon defeating him at the Fire Cavern. This is an automatic part of the game, and so impossible to miss. (Disc 1).

Attack : Hell Fire - Ifrit slams a huge fireball into your opponents. This is a very useful attack against monsters of the 'Ice' element. Also works well on zombies such as 'Gerogero'.

Location : You can draw Leviathan from NORG on disc 2 in Balamb Garden. Again, it's an unmissable battle. Leviathan cannot be drawn until NORG's pod takes two thousand points of damage, and you can actually attack and draw from NORG himself

Attack : Tsunami - Leviathan creates a huge cliff which he then begins to pour huge amounts of water down, crushing your enemies on impact.

Phoenix

Location : Elder's house, Shumi village.

Attack : Rebirth Flame - Phoenix unleashes a fire attack that engulfs the battlefield. The flames burn your enemies while reviving KO'd party members, restoring about 10% of their HP.

How to summon : Use a phoenix pinion in battle to summon Pheonix. After this the legendary creature will appear randomly as long as you have a phoenix pinion in your inventory. (These can be refined from a 'Mega Phoenix' with the Tools-RF ability)

Location : At the start of the game, Quistis will tell you to log onto the computer at your desk. When you do this, you automatically gain this GF. If you do not check your computer, Quistis will comment on it when you meet her at the gate, and you will gain Quezacotl at that point instead.

Attack : Quezacotl's attack, Thunder Storm is particularly effective against mechanical monsters.

Attack : Chef's Knife - Tonberry slowly shuffles over to an enemy then stabs them with his chef's knife (Overcomes Defense).
