JOBS


Jobs plays a main part of Final Fantasy XI. As you begin the game, you will start with 6 jobs, but as you progress through the game you can unlock more.
By completing certain quests, the door to many other exciting jobs will open.

You can change your job any time, and eventually gain the ability to select a support job. With a support job, you can effectively "hold two jobs at once." Want to be a warrior who can cast white magic? How about a monk with black magic? With support jobs, the combinations are endless!

Below is the list of Jobs that are avaialable in FFXI, along with any techniques that they can lear.

The Bards of Vana'diel have the ability to use music as a weapon which it uses in the battlefield. The Bards use...
  • A bright tune to soothe a party's wounds...

      Beastmaster (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
    Beastmasters are experts in monster research have trained tirelessly to communicate with--and even control--the animals of Vana'diel. They have the ability to control monsters to do their bidding, allowing you to control them and turn them against other monsters. However the hold over the monsters is only for a limited time, and while under your control follow your around.

    This is one of the first jobs which are available to you when you start the game. Black Mages using devastating magic spells, black mages bring tremendous firepower to the battlefield. They can act as good long range fighters and can also be good with curses and magic.

      Dark Knights (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
    To strenfthen themselves in battle, Dark Knights have mastered the ways of numerous weapons, and have also acquired certain black magic spells to torment their enemies. Dark Knights have the abilities to drain the HP straight from the enemy.

    This is one of the first jobs which are available to you when you start the game. Monks use their bodies and double it as deadly weapons, and can attack enemies with explosive strength. These can be good strong close range fighters in your party.

      Paladins (needs to be ported to the wiki!)
    Paladins specialize in close-range combat, just like warriors. However, through long hours of spiritual training, paladins have acquired the ability to cast white magic spells, making them even more valuable as part of the party. They are able to use shields and are high in defense.

    Rangers have unparalleled tracking abilities and skill with the bow and arrow. Rangers are experts in the field of hunting and make good long range fighters.

    This is one of the first jobs which are available to you when you start the game. Red Mages have the ability to utilize both Black Magic and White Magic. As well as that they are also well trained in the arts of sword and can act as fighter-mages.

    By make pacts with the legendary "avatars," Summoners have been able to unlock the secrets to the forbidden magic of Vana'diel. Summoners can summon "avatars" when needed.
