The opera played during the course of the game is called "Aria di Mezzo Caraterre", and can be heard performed on the soundtrack CDs as well as in a video on the PSX rerelease version.
The last Final Fantasy game made for a Nintendo system prior to Squaresoft's shift to development for the Sony Playstation.
The two soldiers that accompany Terra at the beginning of the game are intended to be references to the Star Wars characters Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antillies. However, in the English language version, there was a mistranslation, and Biggs became Vicks. This same error occurred when characters with the same names appeared in Chrono Trigger as two of the men in Norstein Beckler's lab. Later games in the Final Fantasy series used a corrected translation, beginning with Final Fantasy VII.
The game was released along side with FFV in the US however in Europe it was released seperately.
