You are Squall Leonhart, a lone-wolf and an self selected outcast. He attends Balamb Garden, a training groud for SeeD, an elite mercenary unit. In order to graduate he must help settle the war between the countries of Galbadia and Dollet.

After completing the SeeD test, he then goes on his first mission - helping a young woman named Rinoa Heartilly to defeat an evil President, with his fellow SeeD's, Selphie Tilmitt and Zell Dincht. Before his mission can be completed however, he and his allies are given an even bigger one. With the help of sharpshooter Irvine Kinneas, and instructor Quistis Trepe, they are to assassinate the Sorceress Edea, a new threat that has risen in their world.

Squall, Rinoa, Quistis, Zell, Selphie and Irvine soon realize that there is a much bigger, and more sinister, evil behind all this. Will they be able to stop it?
