Final FantasyTETRA MASTER (CARD GAME)Getting Started: The easiest and most common way to gain your first few cards is to talk to the person hanging around in the second floor hallway in Balamb Garden, near the lift. You can do this very early on, soon after meeting Selphie. On talking to him, he will give you seven cards, saying that he's not that interested in playing, and you might as well have them. Since he gives you all level one cards, it's hardly a decent deck, but you can make it so soon enough. Teach the GF Quezacotl, who you automatically pick up before leaving Balamb, the 'Card' ability. It's fairly cheap, at 40 AP. You can either fight on the fields till you learn it, or, more simply, use the AP you gain from defeating Ifrit (automatic and unmissable battle). Defeating Ifrit also nets you his card, which is helpful in itself. With the Card ability, you can turn monsters in battle into cards. The ability is more likely to succeed if the monster has a lower percentage of its HP. You will not gain exp for defeating the monster, but you will gain AP. You will also gain the card of the monster, or, rarely, a stronger card. As soon as possible, Card a few Bombs (found in the fire cavern). Despite being fairly low level and cheap cards, they are great to have in your starter deck. You could also try for T-Rexaurs (which can be found in the Balamb Forests and inside the Balamb Garden training centre) but they're probably not worth the trouble. With your Bomb and Ifrit cards, head back into Garden. Save in the lobby, and then take on the kid running laps around Garden. He's wearing a blue shirt and has the Minimog card. It may take a few tries, but it's easy enough to get. Once you have it, save again, then head up the third floor classroom and try and win the Quistis Card from any one of her groupies. During these matches, you should gain quite a few of the lower level cards as well. After returning from the SeeD exam, you can take on headmaster Cid in his office for the Seifer Card and Zell's mom in town for the Zell Card. With Minimog, Zell, Quistis, Seifer and Ifrit in your deck, card matches for the rest of the game will be much easier. (0.0945730209)
