On disc two, you must choose two party members to accompany Squall to Balamb Garden while the other two follow Selphie to the Missile Base. The person you choose affects a scene later in the game.

Most people choose Rinoa. If you choose her you get an extra 10-20 seconds long fmv sequence, and she will wake you up soon after you succeed in clearing Balamb, asking for a guided tour (note - at this point, all you have to do is walk around to the front of the Garden. However, if you wish, you can walk into each section and hear Squall telling Rinoa about them).

If you choose Zell (but not Rinoa), you will miss out on the fmv sequence. He will wake you up, and ask you to train with him.

If you choose Quistis, you will see an extra part of the conversation with headmaster Cid. When he says 'Quistis was right about you' your other two party members will turn to her, while she looks away. She will wake you up in your dormitory, asking to talk (if both Quistis and Zell are in the party, it will be Zell who takes precedence).

If Irvine is in the party, you will see an extra bit of conversation after returning Ellone to the White SeeD ship. He will not wake you up, since Rinoa, Quistis or Zell must also be in the party, and so will take precedence over him. Selphie cannot be in the party, as she is leading the other team.
