Aeons are the souls of the Fayth in Final Fantasy X, voluntarily sealed in stone kept deep within the temples around Spira. If a summoner can overcome the Cloister of Trials an reach the Fayth, they may pray for the Fayth's assistance. The result is Aeons, powerful creatures that serve the summoners. The Pilgrimage brings summoners to the temples of Besaid, Kilika, Djose, Macalania and Bevelle to retrieve the assistance from the Faythe before voyaging to Zanarkand to receive the Final Aeon from Yunalesca. The Final Aeon is the only creature powerful enough to defeat Sin.
