Besaid is a small island on the southern portion of Spira in Final Fantasy X and X-2.

This island is the hometown of Yuna, Wakka, and Lulu. The island itself is scattered with ruins. The village proper is small with only a few huts, but at the center is Besaid Temple, home of the aeon Valefor. This is where Tidus first meets the group and departs with them on the S.S. Liki to Kilika. Tidus also engages in a semi-boss fight with Kimahri.

Besaid remains largely unchanged, still home to Wakka and Lulu. The Besaid Aurochs have joined the Youth League and are in strict training under Beclem. A new location is available here as a mysterious cave that many inhabitants recall hearing stories about. Finding it and gaining entrance is its own puzzle, but worth the reward of a new sphere. Later, Beclem threatens to burn down the temple to eliminate the fiends pouring out, but the Gullwings defeat the dark incarnation of Valefor to save the temple. The player can also participate in the Gunner's Gauntlet by speaking with Beclem.
