Carbunkle (Carbuncle) is an Esper that is received after releasing the Espers in the Magi-Tek research facility.

Final Fantasy VIII
Carbuncle is drawn from Iguion in Deling City before fighting Edea during the Assassination mission or from Krysta in Ultimecia's Castle. Some of the most useful abilities it can learn are Counter, Auto-Reflect, and refining items into recovery medicine. Carbuncle's attack, Ruby Light, does not do damage. Instead it casts Reflect on the entire party.

Carbuncle is one of Eiko's eidelons which she can learn by equipping the Ruby. Carbuncle is the Eidolon used to seal the Iifa Tree and you will automatically find the Ruby when you first enter the Iifa Tree. Carbuncle's normal action is Ruby Light which will cast either Reflect or Protect and Reflect. If Eiko is equipped with an add-on item, his action will change:
Diamond - Diamond Light: casts Vanish or Vanish and Protect
Emerald - Emerald Light: casts Haste or Haste and Protect
Moonstone - Jewel Light: casts Shell or Shell and Protect

Dissidia: Final Fantasy
Carbuncle appears in Dissidia as both Auto and Manual summonstones. His Manual summon can be used by pressing
