A chocobo is a recuring creature in the Final Fantasy series that usually is used for transportation. In some games, a chocobo may appear as a summon. They've even had their own spin-off games! Chocobos are emu-like beasts that are usually yellow in color. Those that are another color generally have special abilities. Usually riding a chocobo on the world map will prevent random enemy encounters as well.

Chocobos have a lot of usage in this game. If you can find the Chocobo Forest you can summon Fat Chocobo. The regular chocobos in the forest allow you to ride them around every where that isn't blocked by mountains. Riding chocobos also exempts you from fighting any enemies on your travels. There is a Chocobo summon in the game as well.

Chocobos can be found in the chocobo forest. White chocobos can restore MP, where yellow ones can simply be ridden. Black chocobos can fly, though they can only land in the woods, and after you remount, they will fly you back to their forest. The Fat Chocobo is crucial for the development of Whyt, Rydia's special Eilodon. Whyt can be trained or altered by the Fat Chocobo.
