Edge is a new city build north of the ruins of Midgar between the events of Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children.

Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile

The novella explores the origins of the city, being built from scrap metal taken from the rubble of Midgar. Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, Barret Wallace, and Marlene also settle here, building a new 7th Heaven. Soon after, Barret leaves to find a new way of life, leaving Marlene in the care of Tifa and Cloud. Cloud develops a delivery business which leads him to find an infected Denzel. During this time, Shinra also erects a monument at the center of Edge for the lives lost during the Meteor incident.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Edge serves as one the central locations of the film. There is a new highway system being built by the WRO and a statue replica of Meteor resides in the center of the city. In an attempt to locate Jenova’s remains, Kadaj summons Bahamut SIN to destroy the monument. A battle ensues between the members of AVALANCHE and Bahamut SIN, destroying much of the construction.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

Edge is mentioned briefly by Reeve Tuesti, saying that the residents are being terrorized by "ghostly" screams. After Weiss’ televised threat, Vincent Valentine heads to Edge to find it deserted. In the closing scenes of the game, 7th Heaven appears to be restored and is shown to be the new home of Shelke.
