Emerald WEAPON
Location underwater Junon region

Emerald WEAPON is an optional boss in Final Fantasy VII encountered under the water near Junon, accessible via the submarine. It is also involved in the side quest "Kalm Traveler". By doing the first part of the side quest, you will receive the Underwater Materia, which will eliminate the 20-minute timer on this boss battle. Engage Emerald WEAPON by ramming into it with the submarine.

[edit] Strategy

To make this battle easier, it's strongly suggested to have gotten the Underwater Materia. It's not impossible to defeat Emerald WEAPON without it, but it makes it so much easier. Also have some strong weapons, armor, materia, and summons. Being able to use Knights of the Round makes any battle much simpler. Have a supply of Turbo Ethers or other means of replenishing MP. If you have Mime and W-Summon materias, you can summon KotR several times in the battle. Having the Final Attack and Revive materias linked and equipped, you can have your characters automatically revived, which will be an immense help.

Make sure you spread out the materia between your party members because Emerald WEAPON's Aire Tam Storm will do damage based on the amount of materia each character has equipped. For each materia equipped, the attack will do 1,111 HP worth of damage, so it's important to only have the necessary materia equipped. If you can manage to get one character's HP up to 9999 and equipped with only two materia, Aire Tam Storm will do 2,222 HP worth of damage, reducing that character's HP down to 7777 (All Lucky 7's).

With KotR and All Lucky 7's, Emerald WEAPON will eventually fall.
