Final Fantasy Adventure is a spin-off of the Final Fantasy series for the original Game Boy, and is actual part of the Seiken Densetsu series, the actual name of the game being Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden, which roughly translates into Holy Sword Legend: Final Fantasy Side Story, Gaiden, meaning "spin-off". This game was later remade for the GBA under the name Sword of Mana.
