Final Fantasy Versus XIII is one of the newest installments in the Final Fantasy franchise exclusively developed for the Playstation 3 Computer Entertainment System as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation . The game is directed by Tetsuya Nomura, who also serves as the character designer for this game as well as for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, the other two instalments in the Fabula Nova series. Square Enix is currently working on this game and has released little information about it.

Thus far, not much is known about the plot. The game takes place on a world currently in state of Cold War. The rival nations of the world seek the last remaining Crystal, as this will bring them the prosperity that they desire, but this Crystal is currently owned by the Protagonists kingdom. Because of increasingly apparent modernization in contrast to neighbouring nations, the prince's kingdom has isolated themselves from the outside world. The game is set as two nations battle each other for dominance and for the last Crystal held by the Prince's kingdom.
A recent interview from Famitsu has revealed that the citizens of the world worship a shinigami (lit. "Death Spirit" or "Death God"). The same interview also revealed that a party will take place at some point in the game in which the warring countries come together to sign a peace treaty. This party also marks the first meeting between the Prince and the unknown blonde female.

No details have been released about the battle system of this game. However, it is known that the battle system will be developed in part by the developers of the Kingdom Hearts battle system. Furthermore, from the first trailer, the main character seems to be able to control several weapons at once and use them for offense or defense.

Much like the plot, little is currently known about the cast of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, although a fair number of characters have been revealed.
[edit] Noctis Lucis Caelum
Noctis is the current protagonist of this game and although precious little is known about his character, a few plot details regarding him and his past have been revealed. He is the last heir of a royal family which rules over the last kingdom in the land which possess a crystal. Because of this the world is in a Cold War like state and his kingdom appears to be currently under siege.
His appearance is that of a man in his early twenties who has red eyes and gray/blue hair. Developers have stated that the colour of his eyes will change when in combat depending on the weapon he is currently wielding. He also seems to possess the ability to teleport to his weapons, as he does so in one of the trailers, and when he does so his hair goes white and stands on end.

Stella is a young, blond woman whose role is supposedly that of the anti-hero in the plot. Stella first meets Noctis during a Peace Conference between the nations were they discuss seeing the "Light", although the meaning behind this is currently unknown. However Stella has also been shown opposite to the Prince and has been described as an unfortunate enemy to him. She wields a rapier, though her allegiances are currently unconfirmed. It is speculated that she will play a love interest in the game

Another 2 characters have been revealed and are as follows :
A character dressed all in white has been seen facing off against the protagonist, inside the protagonists palace, leading many to believe that this person will be the main antagonist of this game.
Another man, much older than all of the other characters, as also been seen sitting in a rather grand room in a business suit. Because he has similar eyes to the protagonist it is speculated that they are related.
