Gender Female
Race Viera

Fran is one of the main playable protagonists of the Final Fantasy XII series. A Viera warrior, Fran is as much at ease with a sword as she is her bare hands. Her proficiency with a blade is matched only by her skill with a wrench, as she also handles the maintenance of Balthier's airship, the Strahl. The lifespan of the Viera is far greater than that of Humes, and many secrets lie hidden in her long history. Yet, the divide of race does nothing to diminish the bond of trust between her and Balthier.

[edit] Final Fantasy XII

Fran is introduced along with Balthier seeking the Goddess Magicite from the Royal Palace's treasury. When they arrive, however, street urchin Vaan has already claimed it for himself. The Resistance attacks the palace at this time, causing the trio to flee together via hoverbike.

However, Fran can't keep control of the hoverbike and it crashes, leaving the group to escape through the Garamsythe Waterway. At the end, the group is captured by Archadian forces and sent to Nalbina Dungeon. Here, Fran searches for an escape route by sensing Mist, an ability present in all Viera. Fran and her companions escape the dungeons and part ways in Rabanastre.

A short time later, the group is reunited after Penelo gets kidnapped and they pursue her in Bhujerba. When the party is joined by Ashe on board the Leviathan, Fran and her companions join her quest to prove her lineage and restore Dalmasca. Thanks to Fran's astuteness, the party escapes the Leviathan without interruption.

After successfully plundering the Dawn Shard from the Tomb of Raithwall, the party is again captured and taken aboard the Shiva. Judge Ghis claims the Dawn Shard for himself, but the intense Mist given off by the stone is enough to send Fran into a rage. She breaks free of her chains, attacking the surrounding soldiers. The party manages to escape the airship just before its explosion, and away from the Mist, Fran returns to normal.

When the party reaches Golmore Jungle, they are prevented from going any further by magickal barriers erected by the local Viera. Fran returns to her home of Eruyt Village to request passage through the Wood. Here, the party seeks Mjrn, but are told that she has left. The party tracks her to the Henne Mines, where Mjrn has succumbed to a Mist rage. After rescuing her youngest sister, Fran returns with Mjrn to Eruyt Village. Here, Mjrn speaks to Fran of her desire to leave the Wood and enter the world of the Humes. Fran discourages her sister to Mjrn's disappointment. Jote, who is revealed to be Fran's older sister, reminds Fran that she spoke the same words fifty years ago before she left. As they leave, Vaan questions Fran about this, wondering Fran’s true age. Fran and the others, however, are appalled by Vaan's bluntness and the question goes unanswered, leaving everyone to wonder how old Fran really is.

The party ultimately confronts Vayne aboard the Bahamut where they fight and defeat him. While the rest of the party escapes, Balthier and Fran stay behind to deter the exploding Bahamut away from Rabanastre. Though the two are successful in saving the city, they are believed to have died in the explosion.

In the closing scenes of the game, Penelo narrates that one year after the events, Balthier and Fran have reclaimed the Strahl from Vaan. Balthier also leaves behind a note describing that he and Fran found the Cache of Glabados.
