Strategy

Genesis Avatar gets its strength from its massive sword and Materia. Genesis Avatar cannot be damaged with physical attacks, and magical attacks are a waste of MP. Wait for him to plunge the Materia sword into the Lifestream floor and hack away. Materia can be destroyed with constant physical or magical attacks. He will summon G Shadows, but one Assault Twister+ will destroy the G Shadows and damage the sword at the same time. Avatar will throw Shadow Flare or Firaga at Zack in the meanwhile, but they can be dodged or outrun. The Purgatorial Wave is unavoidable and will do a major amount of damage to Zack. Keep a Phoenix Down active and keep Zack's HP up as much as possible.
