Golbez is the main antagonist of Final Fantasy IV.

Golbez proceeds to reveal himself after Cecil leaves Baron to travel to the mist. He is first introduced in the text at the Castle of Damcyan, as Edward explains who lead to Red Wings invasion. He is then introduced in person when the heros are at Fabul, guarding the Crystal. He enters, saying, "Kains, why do you now hesitate." as Kain is under his spell of control. It is later revealed that Cecil is also his brother. Golbez's birth name is Theodor. Golbez appears 4 times during the whole game. First, he introduces himself at Fabul. Second, you see him at the top of the Tower of Zot. Third in the Giant of Babil, then last as the end of the final dungeon. Golbez is depicted as a Black Mage of some sort, as he is only seen using black magic, and no weapons.
