Hope Estheim is one of the main playable protagonists in Final Fantasy XIII. He also appears in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Formally unveiled during Sony's E3 2009 trailer, both Hope and his mother are members of the Purge, being forcibly deported from Cocoon. He wields a boomerang, takes a dislike to Snow for making his mother fight, has a special relationship with Vanille, and reportedly a short temper.

Hope's l'Cie summon is Alexander.

Hope's main roles are Ravager, Synergist and Medic.

His weapons of choice are Boomerangs (FFXIII).

After Lightning's disappearance, Hope gives Lightning's knife to Serah. Ten years later, Hope has worked his way up to become the Director of Academy Research for Team Alpha, researching space-time anomolies. The events of his past are a strong motivator. Still wielding his boomerang, he helps Serah and Noel fight off an enemy.
