Overdrives are the limit break system in Final Fantasy X. A few of the overdrives are mini-games while some aren't even attacks at all.

[edit] Overdrives
[edit] Tidus
Tidus's overdrives are all a timing mini-game. You have to hit X as the line goes over the gray colored area in the center, and the faster you do it, the more damage the overdrive deals. Also, to gain his higher overdrives, you must perform his overdrives more.
- Spiral Cut: Starting Overdrive. Tidus jumps and spins through the air, slashing down on a single target for a high damage power hit.
- Slice & Dice: Perform Spiral Cut 10 times successfully. Tidus runs among the enemies, attacking 6 times to random targets.
- Energy Rain: Perform 20 more overdrives successfully (30 in total). Tidus damages all the enemies one time.
- Blitz Ace: Perform 50 more overdrives successfully (80 in total). Tidus slashes an enemy 8 times, then jumps into the air to kick a Blitzball at the enemy which makes a total of 9 hits.
[edit] Yuna
Yuna's overdrive summons an Aeon with its overdrive bar full. After the Overdrive is fired, the Overdrive gauge returns to what it was before. As a result, it is possible to launch two Overdrives in succession with Yuna's Overdrive. Yuna must already have the Aeon to be able to summon it, obviously.
[edit] Wakka
When you select overdrive, you will see a Slot Machine, depending on which one you choose, you will get different options, depending on which 'Reels' you selected. Although there is a Time Limit (20 seconds), it has no effect on how powerful the attack is (unlike Auron's, Tidus's, or to some extent Lulu's).
Element Reels
You already know Element Reels when you get Wakka.
| Symbol | Two Identical Symbols | Three Identical Symbols |
| Red Cirle | Fire Elemental Attack on one Random Opponent | Fire Elemental Attack on all Opponents |
| Yellow Circle | Lightning Elemental Attack on one Random Opponent | Lighting Elemental Attack on all Opponents |
| Blue Circle | Water Elemental Attack on one Random Opponent | Water Elemental Attack on all Opponents |
| White Circle | Ice Elemental Attack on one Random Opponent | Ice Elemental Attack on all Opponents |
Note: If you do not have any doubles or triples, then a non elemental critical hit will be used on one random opponent.
Attack Reels
This is a reward for coming first place in a Blitzball Tournament.
| Symbol | Three Identical Symbols |
| 1* Hit | 6 Non Elemental Attacks against 1 Random Opponent (All the Attacks are against the same Opponent) |
| 2* Hit | 12 Non Elemental Attacks against 1 Random Opponent (All the Attacks are against the same Opponent) |
| Miss | 0 Non Elemental Attacks against 0 Opponents |
Note: If you don't get Triples, then the number of 1 and 2 hits are added together. e.g, you get a 2* Hit, a 1* Hit and a miss, you get 3 attacks in all (2+1+0)
Status Reels
This is a reward for coming first place in a blitzball league.
| Symbol | Two Identical Symbols | Three Identical Symbols |
| Skull | Inflicts Poison, and causes Darkness, Sleep and Silence for 3 rounds on One Random Opponent | Inflicts Poison, and causes Darkness, Sleep and Silence for 3 rounds on All Opponents |
| Down | Inflicts Power Break, Magic Break, Armour Break and Mental Break on One Random Opponent | Inflicts Power Break, Magic Break, Armour Break and Mental Break on all Opponents |
| Hourglass | Inflicts Petrification and Delay on One Random Opponent | Inflicts Petrification and Delay on All Opponents |
Note: if no Doubles or Triples then a single attack without a status effect will be used on one Random Opponent.
Aurochs Reels
These use all the same elements, Attacks and Status reels in one, but with one difference, the Aurochs reel. If you manage to land on it with all 3 reels, then you will do a Non-Elemental Attack on all opponents with Double Damage. It is shaped like a Blitzball with a star in the top left.
[edit] Auron
Auron's overdrives have you press a sequence of buttons in the correct order.
