Being a giant plant, transformed by the dense Mist of the Feywood. The long trunk-root extending from beneath its bloom is used to draw nourishment from the elder trees it prefers.
Though it reproduces by releasing pollen from pods, the Mist interferes with germination, and actual sproutlings are rare.
[edit] Strategy
This is another boss that likes to inflict all kinds of status effects, and this one doesn't hold any back. Protect against those that you can, and for the others have someone with gambits appropriate to curing status effects with items (and make sure you have plenty!). Put the important gambits like curing Confuse, Disease, and KO on top. If you have Mirror Mail, equip it! The status effects will bounce harmlessly off your character, and since you can't use MP anyway, the Reflect status doesn't make a difference for healing. You won't be able to use Esuna because Rafflesia has an MP Drain Field on the area, which will quickly deplete your characters' MP. Before you lose it completely, have a character cast Dispel on the Aggressive Vegetable to remove Haste, Shell, and Regen. Launch a Quickening immediately after to make the most of your remaining MP. When you're out of MP, start using regular physical attacks on Rafflesia. When its HP is reduced to half, it will call in three Malboros for help. Take them out quickly and return to striking Rafflesia.
