Ramuh is the first Esper obtained in the game. He is instrumental in informing the party the truth of Terra's origins, and about her father Maduin. He sends the party to Vector in order to free the other Espers. He turns himself into magicite to aid the party in their battles. During the battle with Shiva and Ifrit, Shiva, his sister, senses Ramuh's presence and ceases the attack on the party. Mog credits Ramuh as being the one to tell him to fight alongside the party.

Ramuh is a familiar face in the world of summons. He can be found in Pinnacle Rocks, the area located near Lindblum. Once you enter Pinnacle Rocks and continue onwards, a short conversation between your characters will occur. Eventually an old man will appear (Ramuh) who expresses concerns over Odin's actions in Cleyra. Garnet asks for his help, and Ramuh agrees if they assemble a story. After talking you'll be taken to the next screen. It's then up to you to progress through Pinnacle Rocks and find Ramuh four times. Each time you find him, he will recite a piece of the story. Eventually when he has recited the story you must find him one last time. You must then assemble the story (which is a reference to Final Fantasy II in the correct order. The order is: Beginning, Cooperation, Silence, Hero or Human. Ramuh will give Garnet the Peridot, which she can use to learn to summon him.
