Rude is a non-playable character from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. A member of the Turks, he is often quiet and does not socialize much. He is very protective of his fellow Turks, especially his close friend Reno, to whom he admits a slight crush on Tifa, a fellow fighter. Despite his mild manner, Rude is also a very powerful fighter.

Final Fantasy VII

Cloud’s party first encounters Rude inside Shinra HQ elevator. He later appears with Tseng and Elena as the party passes through Mythril Mine.

When the party arrives in Gongaga for the first time, Rude is chatting with Reno about their respective crushes. Rude reveals that he has a crush on his fellow Monk, Tifa Lockhart. This is also the first time the player fights Rude.

The party later finds Rude and Reno relaxing in Wutai. When Elena and Yuffie are kidnapped by Don Corneo, the Turks and the player party put their differences aside temporarily to rescue their respective teammates.

If the player chooses to investigate the sunken Gelnika, Rude and Reno may be found on board and engaged in another boss battle. Rude is later found in Rocket Town putting the Huge Materia on Shinra No. 26. The party fights and defeats him here once again to board the rocket. The Turks show up for the last time in the Midgar subway system and the player can choose to engage them in battle or not.

Boss Battles

Gongaga

Rude is encountered as a boss for the first time along with Reno when the party enters Gongaga.

Level HP MP ATK DEF M PWR M DEF DEX EVA AP EXP Gil
23 2000 135 40 100 35 200 65 1 70 720 2000

No Damage: Gravity

Attacks: Fire, Shoulder Attack, Cure

Protected Against: Death, Confusion, Silence, Frog, Small, Slowly Stone, Petrify, Death Sentence, Manipulate, Berserk Drop: X-Potion

STRATEGY

Protect against fire magic before entering the battle, and make sure Aeris is in your party (preferably with a full Limit Break bar). Focus first on defeating Rude because he will heal any damage. Use Aeris' Seal Evil to paralyze both Reno and Rude, and start slashing away.

Gelnika

This is an optional battle that takes place during the side quest Gelnika.

STRATEGY

Normally, the Turks haven't proved much of a problem for you, however you need to keep your wits with you in this battle. Reno's magic spells can easily ruin your party and force you to waste turns on defensive moves instead of offensive attacks or spells. Rude's physical attacks are deadly. Make sure you heal your party at least every two turns and watch out for "Neo Turk Light" which is a spell that confuses one of your characters. An annoying battle, to say the least, but worth it.

Rocket Town

Rude is encountered once again in Rocket Town. He is accompanied by two Attack Squad guys.

No Damage: Gravity

Attacks: Bolt2, Cure2, Shoulder Attack, Grand Spark, MBarrier

Protected Against: Death, Sleep, Confusion, Silence, Frog, Small, Slowly Stone, Petrify, Death Sentence, Manipulate, Berserk

Drop: Hi-Potion

STRATEGY

Pre-equip your characters to defend against the lightning element. The Attack Squad lackeys can put your party members to sleep, so get rid of them quickly. Rude will use Bolt 2 and Guard Spark. This battle should be easy as compared to some of your recent boss battles, so just slash away and stay healthy.

Note: Remember how the Turks were discussing their crushes back in Gongaga? Rude has a crush on his fellow Monk Tifa. If you have Tifa in your party, he won’t attack her unless he casts All-Bolt 2 or all the other members are disabled (by KO or Sleep). Even then, there is a one in three chance that he will hesitate instead of attacking. If he does attack her, he will only use Shoulder Attack.

Reno, Rude, & Elena

During the storyline, when you arrive in the underground Midgar, you will once again run into the Turks. You have the option of fighting them, or saying you don’t feel like fighting. It doesn’t affect anything in the storyline, so you can make either choice.

No Damage: Gravity

Protected Against: Death, Sleep, Confusion, Silence, Frog, Small, Slowly Stone, Petrify, Death Sentence, Manipulate, Berserk

Drop: Elixir

STRATEGY

They're back. This time Elena has joined them. However, she's nothing note worthy and is a souped up soldier. She'll spend most of the battle throwing grenades. Now, the great thing about this battle is that depleting one of the Turks HP will mean they all run off. They all have a HP of roughly 25,000. Having gotten this far, the strategy of defeating them is rather obvious. One thing to note is that they each absorb an element. Reno is healed by Ice attacks, Rude by fire attacks, and Elena by lightning attacks.

Note: Like last time, if Tifa is in your party, Rude will not attack her unless the other party members are KO'd. Even so, there is a two in three chance that he will hesitate instead of attacking her. Again, if he does attack her, it is only with Shoulder Attack.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Rude appears alongside Reno when Zack attempts to help Cissnei during the Genesis clones’ attack on Midgar. He is later seen in the helicopter with Reno searching for the escapees, Zack and Cloud.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

After Cloud locks Reno out of Healin Lodge, Rude comes out to engage Cloud in a friendly duel, but is interrupted by Rufus. In the end, Reno and Rude no longer hold any grudges against AVALANCHE, and instead work with them to defeat Kadaj's gang. Along with Reno, Rude serves as the “comic relief” of the film, particularly in their battle with Loz and Yazoo.

Rude shows up later in the film at the end of a tunnel with Reno preparing his handmade explosives for Loz and Yazoo as they follow Cloud. The explosion is seen at a distance, leaving the viewer to wonder the fate of the two Turks. However, they appear again at the end of the film, seemingly unharmed, to witness Rufus’ cure of Geostigma.
