Seifer Almasy is an antagonist from Final Fantasy VIII that is temporarily playable. Seifer is a hot-tempered young man who is Squall Leonhart's classmate and rival. Seifer is a loud-mouth who is constantly boasting and seeking attention. He is very independent, but his rash decisions often lead to him getting punished by the Garden. Seifer is often seen with his Disciplinary Commitee members Raijin and Fujin.

Seifer's Limit Break, Fire Cross consists of a move called No Mercy that is very similar to the move utilized in the introductory video. He fires off a blast of flame at the enemy before winding up to strike true with an orb of electricity and a blast of wind. The pistol part of Seifer's gunblade plays no part in his Limit Break.

The rivalry between Squall and Seifer is shown from the very beginning in the opening sequence. Seifer actually slashes across Squall's face, leaving a scar. Squall returns the favor giving Seifer a scar on his face going down the opposite way. When Seifer is appointed leader of his team (his party members being Squall and Zell) during the Dollet mission, he defied orders once again, deciding to go about things his way. He instigates the confrontation between X-ATM092 and the party by taking them up to the Dollet Communication Tower during the exam, despite orders against it. In the end, he payed the price, failing the SeeD exam again. This led to him leaving the Garden.

Seifer is brought back into the story as the Sorceress Edea's Knight. He battles with Squall and the others on many occasions, losing each time.
