Sin

Sin is a monster from Final Fantasy X that for 1,000 years has roamed Spira, with the sole purpose of destruction. The Maesters of Spira spread the rumour that the only way to permanently destroy Sin was to rid the world of all machina. The only way to hold off Sin for a while was to make an ultimate pilgrimage. A Summoner must go to the ruined city of Zanarkand and offer one of their guardians to Lady Yunalesca, an unsent summoner who first defeated Sin. Yunalesca would transform the offered guardian into the Final Aeon with the power to defeat Sin. The Summoner must then fight Sin at the Calm Lands. The shell of Sin would be destroyed by the Final Aeon. Unfortunately the Summoner who called the Final Aeon must provide it with their life force, killing the Summoner. Additionally the guardian who was transformed into the Final Aeon would get possessed by Yu Yevon. After the Final Aeon destroys Sin there is a period of Calm, the time Yu Yevon recreates Sin from the Final Aeon, before wreaking havoc in Spira again.

Sinspawn

Sinspawn are creatures that Sin has created, you fight various species of these through the game, the first boss battle is against a Sinspawn. You fight one soon after meeting Yuna and the guardians, you then fight one just after your first battle with Sin, under water, then again twice at Mushroom Rock before a final fight against one along side Sin.

Inside Sin

Sin also serves as a location in FFX. Inside Sin there are various creatures, many that look similar to other fiends around Spira and some that are found in Omega Dungeon. You also have a battle against Seymour inside Sin, and of course with Braska's Final Aeon and Yu Yevon.

Boss Battle

Throughout the game you fight Sin numerous times.

SS Liki

Sin

Sin is first encountered while the party is on board the SS Liki. It will drop weapons with Piercing or Icestrike, and armor with Fire Ward, Lightning Ward, Water Ward, or Ice Ward.

Strategy

Generally, unless you've spent plenty of time on the Sphere Grid, your attack options are limited. Tidus and Yuna are unable to attack Sin, unless Tidus somehow already has Blitz Ace. Kimahri can only attack with Lancet. Wakka's Blitzball attacks and Lulu's spells are able to reach Sin, as are any of Valefor's attacks.

If you choose to fight Sin with normal characters, it's best to attack some Sinscales. Ideally, you'll have Wakka and Lulu. If you think they might need some extra HP, Yuna can accompany them. Otherwise, Tidus' Cheer makes things easier. Don't kill them all or three more will land on the ship. Sin has no attacks and is not a direct threat to your characters. Once two Sinscales are gone, it's basically about attacking Sin and having adequate HP.

Another option is to summon Valefor. It's best to do it after taking out two Sinscales. Get Valefor attacking Sin until her Overdrive gauge is full; the Sinscale contributes. Finally, unleash an Overdrive on Sin. If his HP is below about 1,050, this should result in an Overkill.
