What Triple Triad Is

Triple triad is a card mini game used in Final Fantasy VIII. The aim of the mini game if to 'collect' all cards from various regions of the map, also cards can be won in battle e.g. boss battle against the GF Ifrit, winning the battle gains his card. When traveling you will begin to play with different rules sometimes spreading a rule that was used in the last region you were in or abolishing a rule from that current region.

Basic Game Play

When playing triple triad the player must have 5 or more cards and challenge a person to a game of triple triad. The grid of the game a is 3 x 3 and the player with the most cards in his colour win the game thus being able to choose from 1 card to all 5 card depending on the trade rule.

How to take the opposing cards

Each card has 4 numbers for each side: 7,5,5,3

   7

  5 5

   3

To take the card the player must have a card with at lest one number higher in the opposite location of the allocated number for example: the opponent has a 3 on the bottom of the card, To take it you must have a 4 or higher on the top of one of your cards.

Rules

OPEN - Shows the opponents deck.
RANDOM - Your given a random deck from your inventory.
SAME - This means that when the numbers match on two or more sides of a card, you'll turn the matching cards.
PLUS - Plus works exactly the same way as Same except instead of matching numbers, you add them together. If the totals are the same, the cards turn. This makes for a much greater possibility of getting "combowed" since there are numerous ways to make matching sums.
ELEMENTAL - little GIFS appear on the triple triad board mimicking an element if you have a card with an element matching one on the board, place your card there and all your number will go up +1.
SUDDEN DEATH - The game wont end until someone wins e.g. the game cant end on a draw.
SAME WALL - It requires the person who triggers it to place an A against the wall while also matching another card they touch.
