Dissidia Final Fantasy is a PSP game that features heroes and villains from Final Fantasy I-X and two hidden characters from XI and XII.

[edit] Plot

Dissidia Final Fantasy brings together the main Final Fantasy characters from each game up to FFXII into one game. The Heroes and Villains from each game each form up into separate groups lead by two separate deities, the Heroes work under Cosmos, and the Villains under Chaos. Chaos' goal is to plunge the world into eternal chaos, while Cosmos' goal is to stop them. The player's job in Dissidia is to play through the storylines of the Heroes and collect Crystals that will help them defeat Chaos and save the world. As the storylines are played through and completed more storylines are unlocked. There is no Story play for the Villains, however they can be used in Quickplay, Arcade, and Battle Colosseum modes.

[edit] Battle System

There are two battle systems in Dissidia Final Fantasy: Action Battle and Command Battle. Action Battle brings a new style of fighting to the Final Fantasy series, instead of the Turn-Based style of fighting, this style gives the user more control over the character. In this style of play, the player presses the circle and square buttons to execute different attacks. The Right-Trigger (R) button is used to block and the Left-Trigger (L) button is used for locking on to different targets. The player can also use different combinations of buttons to execute different commands, for example the Triangle and R buttons pressed at the same time will cause the character to dash in a certain direction, usually towards the locked-on target. Command Battle is among the same style of fighting for more recent Final Fantasy games. In this style most of the control is given to the AI. The player is given a list of commands and chooses from then. Once a command is chosen the AI will continue to execute that command until a new one is chosen. Everything in this Battle style moves just like in Acton Battle, except the AI is doing most of it
